On Tuesday, 29 January 2019, 15 students from ISF’s two Education Centres competed in the final round of ISF’s English Speaking Contest.
The contest, which took place at the Stung Meanchey Education Centre, was open to all ISF students with the aim to:
- Inspire students to speak more English outside their classrooms.
- Motivate students to work hard on their English studies especially speaking skills
- Build students’ confidence to talk to public as well as to communicate with people from different nationalities in English
Overall, 40 students entered the contest and were invited to prepare a short talk on the topic of their choice. The contest’s final round saw 15 students compete for the top three places. Prizes included trophies and a chance at participating in a cultural exchange in Hong Kong.
The contestants were judged by a panel of four and awarded points on their abilities in Fluency and Coherence; Lexical Resource (vocabulary); Grammatical Range and Accuracy; Communication and Confidence and body language.
