Sponsor a Football Team
40% of Cambodians live on less than $2 per day. Consequently, children often are taken out of school to help financially support their family. This not only denies them an education, it also strips them of their right to be children. They miss out on peer interaction and the vital life skills that are taught through sport and play.
By sponsoring a football team, you’ll help some of Cambodia’s most marginalised children access their right to play, improve their health and help them to gain the confidence that drives them to succeed. We believe that every child, regardless of where they were born, has the right to play. We use football to educate, motivate and empower children. Through a bespoke football for social impact curriculum, ISF’s experienced coaches introduce players to important issues such as education, substance abuse, gender equality and more; contributing to positive behaviour change on and off the pitch.
Sponsoring a football team costs US$4,000 per year 2020-2022. Our current football sponsors commit to a three-year period. This enables the teams to concentrate on training and playing football without the fear of losing their funding on an annual basis. It gives the teams stability and reassurance in their day-to-day operations. We guarantee that every penny is spent on operations in Cambodia.
Your sponsorship will cover:
Footballs, cones, bibs and more are used during the weekly training and matches
The team will receive their very own kit (shirt, shorts and socks) with the team name and colours chosen by you
Weekly training from qualified coaches covering technical skills and our bespoke football for social impact curriculum
The rental of a training grounds as well as the provision of transport to and from the grounds
Frequently Asked Questions
Sponsors are always welcome at our matches, tournaments or trainings. We would be happy to show you around, give you the opportunity to meet with the local staff as well as the players you support.
ISF is always in need of sport supplies and we would welcome any donation you would like to send. However, we do not accept gifts or donations for specific children, as this can create tensions or jealousy between the students and has a negative effect on their social development.
If you would like to donate gifts in kind directly to the teams, we suggest collecting football shoes (as they are difficult to find in Cambodia) and training supplies such as cones. Please be aware that sending parcels to Cambodia is very complicated and there is an import tax that you will need to take responsibility for. We normally suggest that people bring their donations with them when they visit or send it with friends who might be traveling to Cambodia.
