Football

ISF’s award-winning Football Programme, with the support of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), plays a key role in providing grassroots footballing opportunities to some of Cambodia’s most disadvantaged children. We believe that all children, no matter how disadvantaged, should have the opportunity to enjoy themselves by participating in organised sport.

We assist over 60 organisations and schools, working directly with teams of girls and boys, and All Ability players. We also work indirectly with other schools and organisations, supporting them with coaches’ training, equipment, and participation in league matches and annual tournaments. We encourage both boys and girls (with a particular emphasis on the formation of girls’ teams) to participate and we have both male and female coaches. Our programme has grown from 50 players in 2006 to 3,500 in 2019.

In 2018, we won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC ) Dream Asia Award in the NGO category in recognition of promoting and advancing the power of football to create positive social change in Asian society. In the same year, we were also shortlisted for the Beyond Sport Health and Well-being Award 2018.  Selected from over 400 applications, from 100+ countries and covering 50+ sports, the shortlist recognised innovative work from organisations creating positive social impact around the world through sport.

Deaf Tournament
Our inclusive programme offers regular training and activities for deaf/hearing impaired players who, on the whole, are often excluded from Cambodian society. We also run an annual Deaf Football Tournament which saw 210 players compete in 2018, of whom 30% were female.
Community League
Community League
As part of our programme we also run a Community League every year which provides opportunities for adult players from villages around the ISF Sports Ground to compete on the grounds. This is our way of sharing our space with local community members and using football as tool to promote unity.
Football Festival
Football Festival
We organise annual football festivals in provinces outside Phnom Penh to promote football in rural communities, to train local coaches and to engage more children in physical activities that lead to improved health and well-being.
